Terminal 3 departures

Windsor to Pearson airport

Windsor to Toronto Pearson is 351 kilometres on Highway 401, and about 3 hours 20 minutes in clear conditions, and closer to 4 hours in winter or through the Milton stretch at rush hour. It is one road nearly the whole way, which makes it a simple drive and a long one.

The vehicle comes from our Toronto base, so this is booked rather than hailed. What booking ahead buys you is a fixed price in writing, a named chauffeur assigned to your trip, and a vehicle that is already committed before you wake up for a 6am departure.

On return legs the flight is tracked from the origin airport. Waiting is complimentary for the first 45 minutes after the aircraft lands, then billed in 30 minute increments. Meet and greet inside the terminal with a name board is a paid add on, quoted on request, and is not part of the standard fare.

The same published price covers LaSalle, Tecumseh, Lakeshore, Essex and Amherstburg. Kingsville and Leamington have their own page for the slightly shorter run from the county’s south shore.

The 401 between Windsor and Toronto is not a hard road, but it has two places where time disappears. The first is around London, where the highway narrows and a collision closes lanes with no useful detour. The second is Milton through to the airport, which is the GTA commute and behaves like one from about 6am. Between Chatham and Woodstock the road is open and the drive is uneventful, which is why the total time varies far more than the distance does.

Everything is settled before the day. The vehicle is assigned to your booking rather than dispatched on the morning, the departure time is set against your flight rather than a timetable, and the fare is already agreed. Over 351 kilometres that matters more than it does on a short hop, because there is no recovering from a car that does not arrive when the airport is three and a half hours away.

Your confirmed price moves with the exact pickup address, the departure time, how many stops you add and how long the vehicle waits.

Scheduled operators on this corridor charge per seat, which is the cheaper structure for one or two people. These figures are per vehicle, so they get better with every passenger you add.

Windsor to Toronto airport distance

Those departure buffers are deliberately conservative. Published drive times for this route range from about 3 hours 20 minutes to nearly 4 hours, and the spread is real: the London and Milton stretches of the 401 are where the time actually goes, and winter widens both.

Planning to the optimistic number is how people miss flights. If your departure is before about 9am, the vehicle leaves Toronto in the middle of the night to reach you, which is normal on this route and already in the price, but it is why very early departures need confirming further ahead.

Robert Q Windsor to Toronto airport

Robert Q runs a scheduled Airbus service on this corridor. They are a separate company and we are not affiliated with them. For their timetable, pickup points and fares, go to them directly: we will not republish another operator’s logistics second hand, because those details change and a stale number strands somebody.

The useful thing to understand is the category difference, not which company is better.

Scheduled airbus

Per seat

Runs to a published timetable from fixed pickup points.

  • Cheapest structure for one or two people
  • You fit around the schedule
  • Fixed pickup points, not your address
  • Shared vehicle

Private transfer

Per vehicle

Runs to your flight, from your own address.

  • Better per head from about three passengers
  • Leaves when you need to leave
  • Collected at your door
  • Vehicle is yours alone

The crossover is roughly three passengers. Per seat operators on this corridor advertise fares in the region of a hundred dollars a head, so one or two people travel more cheaply on the scheduled service. Our sedan at approximately $660 split three ways is about $220 each, and it collects you at your door with no transfer, so by three or four the gap narrows to the point where the door to door part decides it. Past fourteen people there is no per seat comparison left, because you are buying a vehicle either way.

The other half of the decision is the timetable. A scheduled service is built around its own departures, which is efficient and cheap, and it is the wrong shape when your flight leaves at 6am or lands at midnight. Those are the two cases where private transfers on this corridor earn their price, along with anything involving small children, mobility needs or more luggage than one person can move across Union Station alone.

Neither is the right answer for everybody. A solo traveller with a flexible afternoon should probably take the scheduled service. A family of four with checked bags and a 6am departure, or a group of twelve, is better served by one vehicle that leaves when they do.

Windsor to Toronto airport train

There is no train from Windsor to Toronto Pearson. VIA Rail runs Windsor to Toronto Union Station in the city centre, and Pearson is reached from Union by the UP Express, so any rail journey to the airport is at least two legs with a luggage transfer in between.

That transfer is the part worth thinking about. After a four hour rail journey you move yourself and your bags across Union Station and onto another train, then out at the terminal. Going the other way, you do it after a long flight.

Rail is a good option for a traveller with one bag and time to spare. It gets steadily worse as you add luggage, passengers, or an awkward flight time.

The timing is the other constraint people underestimate. Rail on this corridor runs to a handful of departures a day, so your flight has to fit one of them with enough margin for the Union transfer and the UP Express on the far end. Miss that fit and you are either leaving the night before and paying for a hotel, or you are not taking the train. A private transfer has no such constraint: the departure time is whatever your flight requires, including the 3am starts that no scheduled operator serves.

Windsor to Toronto airport bus

Two categories of bus serve this corridor: intercity coach operators running Windsor to Toronto, and dedicated airport shuttle operators running to Pearson itself. Both publish their own schedules and fares, and both are cheaper per seat than a private vehicle.

Check times and prices with the operator rather than a third party page. Schedules on this corridor change seasonally, and an out of date departure time is worse than no information.

What we run is not a bus. It is a private vehicle, from your address to your terminal, on your flight’s schedule. For groups past 14 the 27 and 56 passenger vehicles carry undercarriage luggage bays.

One thing worth knowing before you compare fares: a coach ticket to downtown Toronto is not a ticket to Pearson. If the service terminates in the city rather than at the airport, you still have the UP Express or a taxi in front of you, plus the wait between them. Add that leg and the honest comparison changes, particularly if you are travelling with checked bags or you land back in Toronto late at night when connections thin out.

Cheapest way from Windsor to Toronto airport

4 options exist and the cheapest depends entirely on how many of you are travelling.

Alone or as a couple, a scheduled coach, airbus or train with a connection at the Toronto end is the lowest cash cost. You pay per seat, you fit around a timetable, and you change vehicles with your luggage at least once.

At 3 or more the arithmetic flips. A sedan at approximately $660 split three ways is about $220 each, door to door with no transfer. A Sprinter at approximately $1,760 carrying 14 works out around $126 a head, and the 27 passenger mini bus at approximately $2,250 comes to roughly $83 each. All fare only, plus HST and gratuity.

Driving yourself looks cheapest until you add Pearson parking for the length of the trip and 738 kilometres of return driving, half of it done tired. For a week or more away, parking alone often closes most of the gap.

Group size is the whole calculation, and it is worth doing properly rather than by instinct. Count everyone travelling, count the checked bags, then price the scheduled option per seat and the private option per vehicle and divide. Most people are surprised at how early the crossover arrives once bags are in the picture, because a family of four with four suitcases is a difficult journey on any service that involves a change at Union Station.

Windsor to Pearson airport shuttle schedule

There is no timetable, because every trip is scheduled around your flight rather than around a route. 24 hours of notice covers most bookings.

Step 1Send the flight

Flight number, date and the exact pickup address. That is enough for a quote.

Step 2Get the price in writing

One number per vehicle, fare only, with HST and gratuity shown separately.

Step 3Vehicle assigned

A named chauffeur and vehicle locked to your booking, not pooled on the day.

Step 4Pickup

Your chauffeur arrives at your address. On return legs the flight is tracked from its origin.

Give more notice for Christmas, March break, long weekends and summer Saturdays, when the larger vehicles go early to Essex County weddings. Departures before about 9am and arrivals after midnight also need earlier confirmation, because the vehicle runs from Toronto at both ends.

Windsor to Pearson airport shuttle questions

How do I get to Toronto airport from Windsor?

351 kilometres on Highway 401, and 4 ways to cover it. You can drive and park, take the train to Union Station and connect onward, take a scheduled coach or airport shuttle from a fixed pickup point, or book a private car that collects you at your own address and drives straight to your terminal. Only the last one has no transfer and no timetable.

Does the Windsor train go to Toronto airport?

No, and the gap is about 25 kilometres. VIA Rail runs Windsor to Toronto Union Station in the city centre, not to Pearson, so the airport is a separate connection at the Toronto end. That means at least one change with your luggage after a four hour rail journey.

Is there a train that goes directly from Pearson Airport to Windsor?

0 direct trains run between Pearson and Windsor. Pearson connects to Union Station by the UP Express, and Windsor service departs from Union, so the trip is a connection rather than a through journey. Coming home after a long flight, that transfer is the part people most often regret.

What is the fastest way to travel from Windsor to Toronto?

Flying is fastest in the air and rarely fastest door to door, once you add roughly 2 hours of airport process at each end for a short hop. On the ground the private car is fastest, because it leaves when you leave, makes no intermediate stops and takes no detours to collect other passengers. Scheduled coach and train are slower by design, since they serve stops in between.

Is there a shuttle from Windsor to Toronto airport?

Yes, and there are 2 different things people mean by the word shuttle. Scheduled operators run this corridor to a timetable from set pickup points, which suits a flexible traveller. We run the private version: your own vehicle, your own address, your own departure time, from approximately $660 one way in a sedan, fare only.

How much is an Uber from Toronto to Windsor?

0 advance quotes exist, because rideshare prices at the moment you request it. A 369 kilometre request also has to be accepted by a driver willing to end their day four hours from home, which is a different proposition from a ride across the city. A pre booked transfer is agreed in writing before you pay and does not move with demand or weather.

Is there a shuttle available from Toronto Pearson Airport to Windsor, Ontario?

Yes, and the return direction is priced the same as the outbound, from approximately $660 in a sedan. Your chauffeur tracks the flight number from the origin airport, so a delay moves the pickup instead of costing you the booking, and waiting is complimentary for the first 45 minutes after the aircraft actually lands. Arrivals after midnight need earlier confirmation.

Is there a direct bus service from Windsor to Toronto Pearson Airport?

2 categories serve this corridor: intercity coach operators running Windsor to Toronto, and dedicated airport shuttle operators running to Pearson itself. Times, fares and pickup points change, so check the operator directly rather than trusting a third party page. What we run is not a bus at all: it is a private vehicle from your address to your terminal.

Do you tip Robert Q driver?

15 to 20% is our own standard, but that is a question for Robert Q and we will not speak for another company’s policy. On our own service, gratuity of 15 to 20% is the standard and it is stated on the quote before you pay. You can have it added to the booking so nothing changes hands at the kerb.

Where is Robert Q at Pearson Airport?

1 place to check, and it is not here: go to Robert Q directly for their current pickup point, because terminal arrangements change and we will not publish another operator’s logistics second hand. For our own service the pickup is pre arranged: your chauffeur is assigned before the day and meets you at an agreed point once you are through with your bags.

How can I get an Airport shuttle from Windsor to Toronto?

24 hours of notice covers most bookings on the private side. Send the flight number, the date and the exact pickup address, and you get one fixed price per vehicle in writing before anything is paid. Scheduled operators work the other way round, on a published timetable you fit into.

Is there a train from Toronto airport to Windsor?

No direct service exists, and the journey is 2 legs. You would travel Pearson to Union Station first, then take VIA Rail from Union to Windsor, so it is 2 legs with a luggage transfer between them. A private transfer collects you at the terminal and drives the whole 351 kilometres in one vehicle.

How much do you tip an airport limo?

15 to 20% is the standard on this service, calculated on the fare before HST. It is stated on every quote before you pay, and you can have it added to the booking rather than settling at the kerb.

What’s the cheapest way to get to Pearson Airport?

For 1 or 2 people the lowest cash cost from Windsor is a scheduled coach, shuttle or train with a connection at the Toronto end. At 3 or more the arithmetic flips: a sedan at approximately $660 split three ways is around $220 each, door to door. Cheapest and least stressful are not the same answer on a 351 kilometre run to a flight.

How can I get to Windsor from Toronto using Robert Q Airbus Service?

2 things to separate here. Book that service directly with Robert Q, who publish their own schedule and fares. The practical difference is category rather than quality: a scheduled airbus runs to a timetable from fixed points and charges per seat, while a private transfer runs to your flight from your address and charges per vehicle. Which is right depends on your group size and how awkward your flight time is.

Is there a train that goes to Toronto airport?

1 rail link serves Pearson directly, the UP Express between Union Station and the airport. There is no rail service from Windsor to Pearson itself, so any train based journey from Windsor ends at Union and continues from there.

Does the Go train go to Toronto Pearson Airport?

GO Transit serves Pearson by bus rather than by train, and only from points inside the Greater Toronto Area, roughly 350 kilometres short of Windsor. So GO can be the last leg of a journey that started on another operator, but it cannot be the whole trip from Windsor.

Which is cheaper, airport shuttle or taxi?

2 different products, and neither is really built for this trip. A scheduled shuttle is cheaper per seat; a taxi is cheaper only for short hops. There is no metered taxi running 351 kilometres to Pearson at a sane fare, which is why long distance airport work is priced as a flat transfer.

How to get from Windsor to Detroit Airport without a car?

That is a short cross border hop rather than the Toronto corridor, and dedicated Windsor to Detroit operators serve it. We are not the right call for it. What we run is the 351 kilometre leg east to Toronto Pearson, which is the harder journey to arrange and the one that has no rail option.

How much does a taxi cost from Windsor to Detroit Airport?

We do not publish a figure for that route because we do not run it, and quoting another market’s fares from memory is how wrong numbers spread. Windsor to Detroit is a short cross border trip with its own operators. Our published route is Windsor to Toronto Pearson, from approximately $660.
